Committee on Nucleation and Atmospheric Aerosols

I previously served as co-chair of this committee, retiring to Honorary Member status for life following the 19th International Conference on Nucleation and Atmospheric Aerosols that was held in Fort Collins, CO, on June 24-28, 2013. I will serve as co-chair of the 20th ICNAA meeting in Helsinki in 2017.

International Commission on Clouds and Precipitation

I served as a member of this commissionfrom 2004-2014.

Observing Facilities Assessment Panel (OFAP)

I served as a member of the NCAR OFAP through 2014. This group meets bi-annually to provide feedback for the technical and operational assessment of requests associated with the use of NSF's Lower Atmospheric Observing Facilities (LAOF).

NCAR ICE Initiative Steering Committee

I have been involved in this informal initiative to investigate ice initiation processes since its inception in the mid 1990's.The 2007 Ice in Clouds Layer clouds (ICE-L) and 2011 Ice in Clouds - Tropical clouds (ICE-T) experiments ensued from this activity. Presently I lead planning of the Ice in Clouds - Dust (ICE-D) experiment together with Andrew Heymsfield and Xiaohong Liu
